SHEEP OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE.
CENTRAL EUROPEAN
MOUFLON (SCI Species ID E 29)
The Mouflons found in Central Europe are by fare the most pure and biggest Mouflons regarding trophy quality that can be found throughout Europe.
Massive thick horns with a wide curl are significant for this sheep specie. The best Mouflon genetics can be found in Czech Republic and Austria with some exceptions in Hungary. Mouflon Rams can be found in mountains and lowland areas. We are lucky to have one of the best herds in Europe. Our clients take fantastic long horned rams every year up to 39+ inch. In 2012 we hunted the SCI #1 Mouflon that is still ranking #2 in the record book. The rut is in November.
DALMATIAN WILD SHEEP (SCI Species ID E 87)
Croatias Fisherman were forced through a long drought period in the 18th century to leave the remoteness of the Dalmatian Islands of the Croatian Coastline. They left behind their livestock including an endemic sheep species that had been utilized as a domestic animal in the 16th and 17th century.
These sheep became totally wild again and are now extremely difficult to hunt in the rocky open mountains of the Dalmatian Islands.
"In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when preserved by sportsmen."
Theodore Roosevelt (1858 - 1919)
